A Milestone!
One of the key objectives of FIMD has always been unity within the community—a MUST! Becoming a reference point for all Italian detectorists is essential for protecting our hobby while also promoting the responsible practices that the Federation has pioneered and spread across Italy, known as Responsible Metal Detecting (RMD).
DetectItalia, which started in 2023 with its first edition, was like a challenge. Through a costly organizational process, we aimed to replicate what already existed in England but tailored to a national scale.
The Goal: To bring together, in one place for two full days, the most prominent figures and entities in our hobby, attempting to eliminate “differences,” misunderstandings, and emotions that sometimes influence our daily operations. The aim was to help everyone get to know each other better, discuss the issues affecting our hobby, and find effective and responsible solutions. All of this under the wings of a Federation that, since day one, has focused on unity, as well as education and information.
We welcomed our most renowned sector representatives, selected a location (the Piana delle Orme Museum Complex in Latina) that was interesting, stimulating, and geographically central to the nation. We also hosted many groups, associations, merchants, and smaller exhibitors, but most importantly, we managed to attract a significant number of detectorists and metal detecting enthusiasts.
In 2024, we replicated the event, once again at Piana delle Orme. This time, we invested more resources and welcomed foreign participants for the first time. We had almost double the attendees and 10 times the search area (around 25 hectares) compared to the previous year. Special gold and silver targets, as well as unique “FIMD doubloons,” were included for the occasion. We were chosen to host the test bed (the international launch and testing event) for two brand-new metal detector models from leading manufacturers. Over 15 metal detectors and accessories were up for grabs, and on the final day, we were honored with a tricolor flyover from the “Blu Circe” aerobatic team. We received praise from many and proved that all of this is possible, even in Italy.
We firmly believe that such an effort should be supported and continued into the future, demonstrating that Responsible Metal Detecting can be more than just a hobby—it can be a unifying, educational, and value-filled social activity.
Thank you to EVERYONE for believing in us, supporting us, and joining us in this journey!
DETECTITALIA, organized by the Italian Metal Detecting Federation (FIMD), is the most anticipated event of the year for all metal detecting enthusiasts. This is a gathering that brings together detectorists from every corner of the country and abroad, sharing a passion for responsible detecting. In one spectacular setting, we will host manufacturers of the most renowned metal detector brands, associations, and metal detecting clubs from all over. There will be technological and thematic stands, creating an unparalleled atmosphere of interest and hospitality. All this will be enhanced by food services, entertainment, and surprises that will captivate our audience.
For the 2025 event, we have selected an exceptional and beautiful location. We will have around 200 hectares of specially prepared land available for searches and skill competitions. Special targets will be buried, and there will be numerous prizes to be won.
We plan to offer spaces for campers and possibly tents for those who wish to stay with us during the two-day event and participate in the evening shows and surprises we are organizing for Saturday night (until midnight).
For the third time, we look forward to welcoming you with excitement, confident that we can offer two wonderful days of metal detecting. This is a unique opportunity to reconnect with old friends, meet new enthusiasts, and introduce many others who are just discovering this fantastic hobby. As in 2024, our skies will be painted green, white, and red, celebrating an event unlike any other—one that aims to unite our community for a truly responsible and conscientious approach to metal detecting.
